really????

And just before we travel, my baby gets a bit sick. Sunday night she had an awful night sleep and woke up with a slight temperature on Monday morning. That, along with not a lot of interest in breakfast, had me calling the doctor for an afternoon appointment. We then went about our day, with our appointment at the Embassy (no problem, and she sat quietly once they gave her a piece of paper and a pen!) and then met Celia and Karina for brunch at Mike's. She drank her hot chocolate and ate some breakfast, but still, not enough in my mind. We trekked over to the clinic where she was seen by the famous Dr. Ravi. I say famous because all the families rave about him. We've been to this clinic before, but had always seen other docs. Dr. Ravi was great. He's an American who did peace corps here in the early 90's, went home, became a doctor and came back with his family to practice here. And not surprisingly, we know some folks in common from Hopkins!

Luckily, Tara's exam did not show chest congestion or really anything in her ears - phew. She did have a fever and some upper respiratory coughing so we got some fever reduction medicine and instructions to take it easy, try and get her to drink more, and rest - and if it got worse to bring her back in. So we headed home to rest - videos, bath, books and sleep. It was a better night, though still not great.

This morning, she still has an elevated temperature - but only a bit and she is eating a peanut butter and honey sandwich - so that's a good sign. Today was supposed to be her last day of school, so we'll just stop by to say goodbye. I'm sad that she won't have a proper send off from there, but it's more important that she rests. Then we'll spend the afternoon packing - since that's gotta get done (I was hoping to do it while she was in school). Hopefully she'll feel even better tomorrow so we can do a last little bit of running around Kathmandu before heading home.

It does seem like they tend to get sick at the most inconvenient times! It sounds like she'll be O.K. to fly though, so that's great! Eli does sometimes get out of sorts (angry, grumpy, sad, difficult) when he has something coming on (and I guess I do too, really!), so maybe that's why there were tantrums over the weekend. Anyway, safe and happy trip home, yay, home!!!
